Pork Soboro Bento

Same thing for both boys. Both reported satiety and happiness ^^

I used the leftover soboro to make a porridge with the leftover rice, cos I actually bought and cooked everything in these bentos especially for them. The resulting soboro porridge was incredibly delicious, especially when topped with (more) leftover ginger scallion sauce.

Brioche Subs

Got the buns from M&S. They're really soft and buttery and keep well. Shall go get more!

Rice Bento

It's been some time since I last did something like this. Sure hits the bento spot ^^

Cold Udon Salad

Always well-received by RM. The others won't touch it with a ten foot pole *roll eyes*

For Mouse, it's basically a repeat *roll eyes*

Korean Stew / Buns

This was one of those mornings that I almost ran out of time preparing the bentos. Big fat rush steaming the stuff up and packing them. All right, I admit I wasn't functioning on full capacity and was being a bit of a sloth.

Takoyaki had leftover stew (with both doenjang and kimchi, it was kind of weird but still very tasty).

The boys brought pork buns.

Bak Kwa Rice

Simple but delicious (and well-received).

Roast Beef and Cabbage Don

We always order roast beef during the Christmas period but keep it for a month or so in the freezer so that we get to eat it sometime in the new year.

Here, Takoyaki has hers with some Cabbage fried with Mustard Seed (family favourite).

Hainanese Chicken Rice Bento (Again)

I am so glad that Mouse now likes Ginger Scallion Sauce, cos it's good for him and tastes especially good with steamed chicken and rice. Here is a simple, small box for his recess (he can't eat much).

And the upsized version for RM ^^.

I am so going to enjoy the loooonnggg CNY break from bentoing! Yes!

Leftover Sukiyayi Don

Although that's not very accurate, given that Sukiyaki should be freshly cooked and the soup/stew should be accompanying.

I just cooked the remainder of the cabbage and pork belly that we had in the sukiyaki soup/stew and topped the rice with these.

Curry Chicken!

Too good for words.

But RM doesn't like to bring a food jar to school so he brought yesterday's Kimchi Chicken Stir fry.

Stir-fried Kimchi Chicken Don

I couldn't find a recipe online for a dish like this, so I invented my own. It's rather like the Chinese dish of 咸菜炒肉丝 (preserved mustard and pork stir fry) except I used chicken breast (couldn't find thigh) and kimchi. Delicious, if you like kimchi.

Vietnamese Spring Rolls

Finally something new! I made these at the end of the dinner and although they kind of dried out in the fridge (inside the boxes), I found that leaving them at room temperature for about 10 to 15 minutes rehydrated the skins due to condensation.

Takoyaki has hers with some (thumbsucking delicious) homemade garlic fish sauce dip.

And Mouse, who doesn't like the rolls, got two 叉烧包 char siew bao.

Beef Soboro and Spinach Don

So simple but so tasty and satisfying (and so not natto).

A more colourful box for RM (above) and a less colourful but still pretty one for Mouse.

Natto again

So Takoyaki came home yesterday to discover that the boys had natto and she wanted HER turn today. Ok lah, I give lah, as long as I have. And Mouse was just too happy to get it again with his rice.

Takoyaki brought some leftover Mille-Feuille Nabe in her thermal jar. This is something we love, that is in our regular rotation of soups/stews for dinner. It takes a little time to prep, but the steps are really easy. And leftovers are always fought over the next day!
